Into a Journey


         In the early morning light, a young couple were climbing out of a yellow taxi. The young man helped the cabbie retrieve his luggage and put it on the trolley the young woman had appropriated.

          While her boyfriend loaded the trolley and paid their fare, she gazed at the pink clouds with a melancholy spirit unable to truly appreciate their beauty.

         

          The taxi pulled away and she turned to her boyfriend as he settled his duffle bag, holding his notebook, camera, laptop, and books, on top of his suitcases.

          She could barely summon a smile in time as he stood up and conservatively asked, “Are you ready?”

          She nodded and they walked into the airport, her silence unbroken as he went through all the checkpoints and she merely watched.
